Description

This classic version of knives suits every kitchen enthusiast.

  • All-Round Knife: An alternative to a chef’s knife. Santoku means "three virtues" in Japanese, that is, excelling at slicing, dicing and mincing.
  • Push-Cut Master: The 7-inch santoku knife is typically shorter than a chef’s knife with noticeably different blade geometry, featuring a sheep’s foot rounded tip and a straight edge that increases the cutting area and excels at downward cut, making it a push-cut master. The evenly spaced hollow-ground indentations on the blade prevent food from sticking to it.
  • Thin Double Bevel Edge: Shockingly thin 15°±1° double bevel edge excels at fine cuts. It sails through the food effortlessly.
  • Full Bolster: The full bolster between the blade and the handle functions as a finger guard while providing additional heft for a perfect balance. It’s safer to use especially for beginners.
  • Ergonomic Pakkawood Handle: The handle is ergonomically designed for comfortable use. It’s made of pakkawood, which looks beautiful and feels nice. It has a skeletonized tang that is secured with three silver rivets for superb balance and quality. The embossed endcap adds weight and balance. A graceful on it as a mark of SHAN ZU cutlery.
  • Light Weight: The Japanese santoku knife is lightweight and well balanced that reduces strain and tension on your wrist. It enables you to cut food like a breeze.
  • Easy Maintenance: The blade is made of premium German  stainless steel rated at 55-57HRC hardness for great rust resistance and ease of maintenance. Less time needed for knife maintenance.

good gift for home cook or kitchen geek

This knife comes in a nice plastic sealed cardboard presentation box and therefore would make a good gift for home cook or kitchen geek. In my case I got this knife for my bro as a thank you gift for helping me out during storm. knife looks amazing...sharp off the bat... I like it the way it feels and my bro started using it right away and he said it a very good quality knife - Excellent Quality - as per his saying... I did not want to spend $100 at my local store and I'm glad I got this knife for my bro as a thank you - gift... The best value I have found in any product of its kind. very happy with this purchase. Of course, time will tell whether it's the right choice. anyway my bro uses this knife for a full day now and the knife did developed some bluish staining along the edge overnight but It is still sharp and cuts well. I did ask my bro as I started worried and from his expirence - apparently it happens with high carbon knives, not uncommon even with high end over $100 dollars one and other very expensive brands. - he said it normal with high end steel - my bro said to me he is happy with this knife and as a chef knife it is designed for light to medium work and it does work well for him. if he is happy - I'm happy :) - good buy in my books if you do not want to spend arm and a leg...

Very sharp knife.

Let me say that I'm not a chef or anywhere near that but I do a bit of cooking at home so I'll try my best to do the review on this. The blade is super sharp so careful when you cut anything. The handle is made of wood but it's not heavy or light, to me it's feel just right. Very comfortable to hold when cutting vegetables and it's slide off quite nice due to those slope in the middle (don't know what you call that). The only minor complaint is that the rivet is not smooth so if they sand it a little bit more then this is definitely a perfect knife in my opinion. So far I have use it to cut vegetables, meat, and minced the garlic but the knife is still sharp. I have attached a short video clip to let you see how sharp it is. However I cut it using one hand while trying to record with the other hand so its not the best video quality :)
